The International Union of Notaries (UINL)is a non-governmental organisation established to promote, coordinate and develop notarial activity around the globe and to protect the dignity and independence of the various Notariats.

Its functions include:

  • Representation of the Notariat before international organisations.
  • Study and systematic compilation of legislation regarding the institution of the Latin-type Notariat.
  • Promotion of the evolution of Law alongside national and international legislative authorities.

Founded in 1948 in Buenos Aires, the International Union of Notaries (UINL) has representation at such bodies as:

  • United Nations.
  • World Trade Organization (WTO).
  • Council of Europe.
  • European Union
  • Organization of American States (OAS)
  • Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
  • North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
  • Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
  • Andean Community, and also such legal institutions as the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (Unidroit).
  • Hague Conference on Private International Law.
  • International Association of Lawyers (UIA).
  • International Association of Magistrates (UIM).
  • International Law Association (ILA).
  • International Bar Association (IBA).
